Twilight Communion

7 ft x 5 ft (WxH), Oil on Canvas I have always liked horses and I wanted to capture the special relationship between trainers and their horses.

Farm House

4 ft x 3 ft (WxH), Oil on Canvas I wanted to capture a majestic sky just after sundown over a farmhouse. I'm originally from Nebraska where there are plenty of these!

Rainy Day

11.5" x 9", Ink and Graphite on Paper I like drawing people with umbrellas and was working on this in Portland one afternoon (where it rains a lot).

Reflection

2ft x 2ft, Oil on Canvas This was one of my earlier works. I wanted to show a lady walking in shallow water with her reflection and maybe we can wonder what she is thinking about.

African Malaise

30" x 48" (WxH), Oil on Canvas After the Ebola outbreak in West Africa in 2014 I painted this. I was trying to capture some of the heartache and despair juxtaposed with the bright colors of traditional African clothes.

Self Portrait

4 ft x 3 ft (WxH), Oil on Canvas One of my first figurative paintings. I like the concept of looking over our shoulder at our alter ego.

Three Trees

4 ft x 3 ft (WxH), Oil on Canvas I wanted to frame the clouds and blue in the sky with the branches of the trees. I was also using a stippling technique with a limited color palette to help create depth.

Hi There

7 ft x 5 ft (WxH), Oil on Canvas I thought it would be humorous to paint two fairly realistic and beautiful women passing by two guys that are not dressed in particularly hip fashion. I was also playing around here with giving the figures more and less detail (from right to left).
